The Hôtel de Ville (French pronunciation: [otɛl də vil], City Hall) in Paris, France, is the building housing the city's local administration, standing on the place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in the 4th arrondissement.

The Hotel de Ville — that is, the Paris City Hall — is one of the enduring landmarks in the city and it's been that way since the mayor of Paris first moved to the site in 1357. Initially, the seat of Paris city government was in the house owned by whoever was mayor.

The Hôtel de Ville de Paris has been the seat of the Paris City Council since 1357. The current building, with a neo-renaissance style, was built by architects Théodore Ballu and Edouard Deperthes on the site of the former Hôtel de Ville which burnt down during the Paris Commune in 1871.

We were lucky to get a tour of the inside, as my cousin who lives in Paris works inside. The Hotel de Ville is absolutely magnificent inside as it is outside. It contains beautiful works of art, magnificent sculptures and furniture - it's like a mini-Versailles inside.
